HOW TO MAKE NEW PROJECT #5

Step 1: Open CNC Mastercam V9

The first step is to open CNC Mastercam V9 on your computer. Once you have launched the program, you will be greeted with the Mastercam menu.

Step 2: Create a New File

To create a new project, you will need to create a new file. To do this, go to the “File” menu and click on “New.” You will then be prompted to select the type of file you want to create. Choose “Mill” if you are creating a milling project, or “Lathe” if you are creating a turning project.

Step 3: Select the Stock

After you have created a new file, you will need to select the stock that you will be working with. To do this, go to the “Stock” menu and click on “Define.” You will then be prompted to enter the dimensions of your stock.

Step 4: Set the Origin

The next step is to set the origin of your project. To do this, go to the “Machine” menu and click on “Home.” This will move the spindle to the home position. You can then set the origin by going to the “Work Coordinate System” menu and clicking on “Set Current.”

Step 5: Create Geometry

With the origin set, you can now create the geometry for your project. To do this, go to the “CAD” menu and select the tools you need to create the geometry. You can use the “Line” tool to create straight lines, the “Arc” tool to create curved lines, and the “Circle” tool to create circles.

Step 6: Create Toolpaths

Once you have created the geometry, you can create the toolpaths that will be used to machine the part. To do this, go to the “CAM” menu and select the tools you need to create the toolpaths. You can use the “Pocket” toolpath to machine pockets, the “Contour” toolpath to machine the outside of a part, and the “Drill” toolpath to drill holes.

Step 7: Verify the Toolpaths

Before you run the toolpaths, it’s important to verify them to make sure they are correct. To do this, go to the “Verify” menu and click on “Machine Simulation.” This will show you a simulation of the toolpaths, so you can make sure they are correct before running them on your actual part.

Step 8: Post-Process the Toolpaths

Once you have verified the toolpaths, you can post-process them to generate the G-code that will be used to run the CNC machine. To do this, go to the “CAM” menu and click on “Post.” You will then be prompted to select the post-processor you want to use and the location where you want to save the G-code file.

In conclusion, creating a new project with CNC Mastercam V9 is a straightforward process that can be accomplished in just a few easy steps. By following the steps outlined in this article, you can create your own projects with ease and be on your way to becoming a CNC machining master in no time.
